Candida Yeast Imbalances
One of the most common issues that people ask me about are candida/yeast imbalances. This can occur when overindulging with sugar, alcohol, or caffeine, or after utilizing a steroid or antibiotic.
When this happens, I tend to use a couple of products and stay away from certain foods. The foods or the diet that I follow is a low carbohydrate, high protein diet.
This means that I temporarily avoid foods that contain sugar, flour products, white potatoes, alcohol, caffeine, fruit and fruit juices, most dairy, as well as vinegar.
By avoiding these foods it helps to deprives the yeast from getting the sugars and simple carbs that they need to thrive on.
Instead I eat more animal protein, complex carbs, vegetables, and beneficial fats. The supplements that I take are a probiotic and a combination herbal remedy.
Beneficial herbs and nutritionals which help to support intestinal health can include: olive leaf extract, garlic, citrus seed extract, caprylic acid, and oil of oregano.
I personally find the dietary steps to be the most effective still the supplements help my body to more quickly reestablish a healthy, balanced flora.
